Dallas local Fox news recently reported on a woman set to give birth to her third set of twins. According to the article she has had no outside fertility help.  Gezime Amer, 37, first gave birth to twin boys 12 years ago. Her second set of twins – girls – followed two years later. Now, she is six months pregnant and her gynecologist, Dr. Ayman Shahine, confirmed she is expecting twin boys once again. All of Amer’s twins are fraternal. The National Organization of Mothers of Twins reported 15 of their 26,000 members have given birth to “several” sets of twins. Amer said no one in her family has twins.
Dr. Wilcox and Dulin are used to seeing mothers of multiple births postpartum. For obvious reasons the abdominal skin has to stretch more and the breast are accommodating two or more babies instead of just one. Most of these births are by Caesarean section so it is almost impossible for the abdominal muscles to repair themselves. Dr. Wilcox and Dulin recommend an extended abdominoplasty to correct the shape and tone of the abdomen. Most of the time the incision will need to extend beyond the hip if the skin laxity is present in that area. The incision is generally low in the bikini line and well hidden. For the breast usually the recommendation from Dr’s Wilcox and Dulin will be a breast augmentation with a breast lift. The augmentation will include a small implant for fullness at the top of the breast and the breast lift will remove the excess skin and correct the sagging.
