Plastic Surgery Blog: Botox is not Responsible for Death
By admin | March 4, 2010
A recent local article revealed the story of Dee Spears who sued Botox maker Allergen for the death of her seven year old daughter. Botox is an injectable used to paralyze muscles. Botox is approved for treatment of cerebral palsy and Spears daughter died after receiving regular injections in her legs to control spasms over an 18 month period. Spears sued the company claiming that the paralyzed muscles in her daughters legs caused her death. The jury found that the girl died of natural causes related to her disorder.
In the plastic surgery world Botox injections are used to paralyze the muscles in the face that cause folds and wrinkles. Botox eliminates the frown lines between the brow. Dr.’s Wilcox and Dulin administer these quick, safe injections. The procedure only takes around 10 minutes with no downtime afterward. Botox should be injected by a trained medical professional. Patients who choose the same injector for their Botox treatments experience a much better result over time. Botox will relax the muscle over time and the same injector is familiar with the patient and will inject with the same pattern achieving optimal results. Dr.’s Wilcox and Dulin recommend that their patients don’t get caught up in the “price game”.
