Plastic surgery blog : Sleeping should never be treated as a luxury
By admin | January 21, 2010
In our society we have come to compliment those who run around busy and “driven” all of the time. We devalue those who choose to rest and take a break, and even more so if they take naps. Many Americans function while being sleep deprived every day. Many drugs have been introduced to help treat insomnia. A recent Dallas news article suggested simply changing your routine to allow time for rest, and ultimately, sleep. Sleep deprivation is not only detrimental physically, but it also affects your mind and appearance.
Drs Wilcox and Dulin help patients to understand that lack of sleep can cause bags under the eyes and droopy eyelids. Drs Wilcox and Dulin can perform a blephroplasty which will address the upper eyelids by removing a small sliver of skin in the eyelid crease. This opens the eyes and allows the patient to look more alert. Patients who are sleep deprived can also benefit from Botox injections which will help with creases in the forehead created as a result of the patient’s struggle to keep their eyes open. Most importantly the patient must have a new routine that will allow for enough sleep.
