Plastic Surgery Blog: Married for Money
By admin | January 4, 2010
According to a local my FOX article a grandmother sold marriages and accumulated more than one million dollars. The woman found foreigners willing to pay for citizenship and green cards by scam marriages. Playing matchmaker and giving immigrants the ability to be citizens was very lucrative for the grandmother. She sold over 170 marriages. The scam was kept secret for so long because she created fake identification and married off members of her family with fake identification and later would make them divorced. One of her daughters had been married and divorced over 12 times. She created a very large scheme and was found guilty of fraud at the age of 74. Authorities are still trying to track down all of the falsely married couples.
Sadly, there are many sham marriages in America. This can be foreign people or American women who marry for a false sense of security. In the plastic surgery industry it is not uncommon for men to suggest surgical procedures to woman for their own benefit. Dr.’s Wilcox and Dulin believe plastic surgery can be a life changing procedure that can add joy to a happy, stable individual who chooses it as an elective procedure-not something that defines them. We must remember that we are not are breasts, or bodies, or our faces. Decisions to change these parts of ourselves should be made only by our personal choice.
